A 72-year-old woman was hit by a train at Oberkorn station after reportedly searching for something on the tracks and failing to notice the approaching train entering the station. Although the train driver applied the brakes, the train still struck the woman, causing her to fall and sustain a head injury.
According to police, the woman’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. An investigation into the incident is underway.
Due to the emergency response at Oberkorn, train services on the Luxembourg–Esch-sur-Alzette–Rodange line have been suspended in both directions between Belvaux-Soleuvre and Pétange. Rail replacement buses have been arranged to run between Belvaux-Soleuvre and Pétange in both directions to help passengers continue their journeys.
