The defendant’s mother explained that her daughter started out as a good person who was studying to become a nurse. However, she suddenly abandoned her education after meeting the father of her future children and cut-off contact to her mother until she was pregnant for the first time. According to the witness, following this cutting-of-ties, the defendant only contacted her when she needed something.
The defendant’s mother explained that the last time they both spoke was after the birth of Bianka in 2015, although she never actually saw the baby. Since the girl’s disappearance, she has also not seen the defendant, nor was she aware that her daughter had been released from police custody.
The aunt of the defendant painted a similar picture, stating that she had a good relationship with Bianka’s mother up until a few years ago. In fact, she said that she was not even aware of the defendant’s latest pregnancy.
A friend of the defendant also provided witness testimony on Wednesday. She stated that Bianka’s mother had been a friend and that she never behaved aggressively towards her. Although she met Bianka twice after her birth, her mother preferred not to talk about her. The friend further retold details about an encounter with the baby and her mother a few days prior to Bianka’s disappearance.
As has been the case during the first days of trial, the defendant voluntarily remained absent from court.
The baby girl disappeared in in July 2015, the same month she was born and authorities have unsuccessfully been looking for Bianka ever since. The mother was subsequently arrested and held in investigative custody for 14 months and was released in 2016.A large-scale search operation was conducted at a pond in Linger, the place where she was last seen, but efforts remained in vain.
The investigation into the girl’s disappearance concluded in 2019, a year later however the prosecutor’s office announced it intended to reopen proceedings against the woman with a view to charging her for the child’s disappearance, neglect, and potential murder.
