ING, the municipality of Luxembourg City and Rosa Lëtzebuerg are organising the return of the Luxembourg Pride Run, set to take place on Thursday, 11 July, at 7pm. Building on last year’s success, the event will feature both 5km and 10 km races, with the 5km race also open to walkers. The start of the race will be at Place Guillaume II.
Last year’s inaugural Pride Run drew 1,500 participants, and this year’s edition is poised to surpass that milestone, with over 2,300 people registered, marking a new record. The participation of more than 70 businesses and associations further underscores the country’s robust support for LGBTIQ+ rights and wellbeing, as noted by ING Luxembourg CEO Michael Burch: “The Luxembourg Pride Run attests to our shared dedication to creating a society that is open and fair, where everyone enjoys the respect they deserve and is celebrated for their individuality.”
Luxembourg City Alderman Maurice Bauer, in charge of promoting equality of opportunity in the capital, echoed these sentiments in a statement: “We are... thrilled to see so many people turn out, whether they are racing or volunteering. Together, on 11 July, we will be sending a powerful message of inclusion and openness, worthy of our status as an ‘LGBTIQ+ Freedom Zone’.”
The Pride Run is organised in collaboration with Rosa Lëtzebuerg, the Centre LGBTIQ+ CIGALE, and IMS, with the technical aspects managed by the nonprofit Urban Trail de Luxembourg, known for its expertise in organising annual sporting events in Luxembourg City.
Funds raised from the event’s sign-up fees will be donated to projects that promote LGBTIQ+ rights and foster wellbeing, highlighting the role of sport in advancing mutual understanding and inclusion.
