Emergency services were called to three separate fires in southern Luxembourg on Sunday afternoon, including a grass fire behind the municipal workshops in Esch-sur-Alzette.

Emergency services responded to a fire on Sunday afternoon behind the municipal workshops on Rue Barbourg in Esch-sur-Alzette. According to forester Paul Zimmermann, the blaze affected approximately one hectare of dry grassland, but was quickly brought under control and extinguished.

The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) later confirmed the incident, stating that they were alerted at 1.31pm. Fire crews from Esch-sur-Alzette, Bascharage, Mondercange, Schifflange, Dudelange, the Sadiff Centre, as well as the operational technological support group (GATO) and ambulance teams from Esch, were all deployed to the scene.

Rescue teams were also dispatched to two other fires in the region on Sunday afternoon.

In Fentange, a gas barbecue caught fire on Rue de Bettembourg shortly before 2pm. Firefighters from Hesperange and ambulance teams from Luxembourg City responded to the incident.

Another vegetation fire was reported at 2.51pm on the CR356 between Broderbour and Folkendange. Firefighters from Vallée de l'Ernz, Bettendorf, and Reisdorf were called in to tackle the blaze.

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
