The local authorities first warned of the contamination at the end of July. Since then, neither the authorities, nor professional bodies or outside intervention have been able to pinpoint the cause of the issue.
Next week, new measures will be taken to further investigate the cause. Notably, the authorities will attempt a measure involving comprehensively cleaning and disinfecting the entire water supply of the municipality.
Residents are still unable to drink tap water in the town, or use the water to wash fruit and vegetables. Despite a number of methods which have been trialled, the mystery remains.
