Protest at Royal HamiliusProperty manager denies contact with municipal council and protest organisers

Firce Capital, which manages the Royal Hamilius site, denied banning a demonstration in honour of International Women's Day next week, saying they had not been contacted by organisers or the council.

Over the past week there has been confusion regarding a planned demonstration on 8 March by women’s rights group JIF, after it was reported that theRoyal Hamilius owner objected to protests taking place on the property. The Luxembourg City municipal council initially confirmed the reports, then backtracked a day later, saying protesters were permitted to gather at Hamilius, but not actively demonstrate there.

Now, in a press release issued on Thursday, Royal Hamilius property manager Firce Capital has claimed they were not contacted by the event organisers, nor the municipal council, regarding the protest on 8 March. The group said they would of course respect the right to protest.

Mayor Lydie Polfer spoke out last week to confirm the Hamilius area was considered a public place under municipal jurisdiction. Firce Capital emphasised this point and added that they did not seek to enmesh themselves in public services.
