Shortly after 1am on Friday morning, police were alerted to a break-in at an unoccupied residence in Ettelbruck. On arrival, officers noticed lights on inside the house and apprehended two men behind the building as they attempted to flee. A third person was arrested shortly afterwards.

All three were taken to the police station for further questioning and placed in detention on the prosecutor’s orders, ahead of their appearance before a judge.

Just after 2am, a man had his necklace snatched on Rue Jean-Pierre Probst in Luxembourg City. The victim was approached by an unknown individual, who then tore the chain from his neck before fleeing the scene. Despite an immediate search by police, the suspect was not found. An investigation has been launched.

A report was received shortly after 3am that a driver, suspected to be intoxicated, had damaged a wall while leaving a bar in Luxembourg-Muhlenbach. Police were able to locate and stop the individual, discovering damage to the vehicle as well.

The driver was confirmed to be under the influence of alcohol and was already banned from driving until July 2026 for a previous drink-driving offence. A police report was issued. It was also established that the man had been involved in an earlier altercation at the bar; the other party, who was also intoxicated, has been summoned for questioning.

On Friday at around 5pm, police detained two individuals in a supermarket in Echternach. Staff, assisted by a customer, had held the suspects on suspicion of theft until police arrived. Both were taken to the police station, and following orders from the public prosecutor’s office, they were placed under arrest and brought before the investigating judge on Saturday morning.

Police responded to around 20 calls for altercations or fights in recent hours. In most cases, officers found no evidence of an incident, or were able to calm the situation without further intervention.

In Leudelange, however, an intoxicated customer attacked a security guard without provocation at a service station. The man could not be calmed, even after police arrived, and was taken into custody following a medical evaluation.

Separately, another individual was also detained after refusing to cooperate with police following a dispute on Boulevard de la Foire in Luxembourg City.
