CovidCheck fraudPolice trainee given 18-month suspended sentence, expelled from academy

RTL Today
On Friday, the Luxembourg City Court handed a police trainee an 18-month suspended sentence for using a false CovidCheck certificate.

The man, who attended the Luxembourg Police Academy, was also fined €1,500, in a verdict that was harsher than demanded by the public prosecutor’s office.

The trainee had used a friend’s CovidCheck certificate on several occasions, without being fully vaccinated or tested himself.

By doing so, he fully accepted the risk of infecting other students, the judges said.

The man was caught because the name on his certificate was not on the firearms training list. He has since been expelled from the academy, with his mobile phone confiscated as a ‘criminal tool’.
