Between 12.30am and 3am, police officers tested drivers between Ellange train station and Schengen.
Officers also conducted alcohol tests between 6pm and 10.30pm in Diekirch, Erpeldange, Bamerdall and Ingeldorf.
In total, 758 drivers had to take a breathalyser test, which came back positive in thirteen cases. Of those, three drivers were found to be significantly over the legal maximum and had to hand over their driver's license on the spot.
The first accident took place on Sunday evening in Oberkorn. The impact of the crash was minimal, only causing material damage and no injures. When police officers arrived at the scene, they quickly realised that the driver had been drinking. His driver's license was also seized.
Another incident occurred around 8pm in Diekirch. A car crashed into a second vehicle that was parked on the side of the road. The driver first attempted to take off but a damaged tire prevented him from doing so. He was also under the influence - consequently, the police suspended his license.
