The police had been called to the establishment on Rue Michel Rodange at around 4pm, following reports of a group consuming drugs on the street.

As the officers attempted to conduct a search of those present, the group became aggressive and prevented them from examining a backpack belonging to one of the suspects.

Around 10-15 people then surrounded the officers and began to verbally and physically abuse them, prompting the officers to call for reinforcements.

Two people were taken into custody as a result.

A body search found 105 grams of hashish on one person, while the backpack contained a further 42 grams. One person was arrested by order of the public prosecutor’s office and brought before magistrates on Tuesday.

When officers returned to the café to secure further evidence, they were once again attacked by those present. A brief altercation ensued, which permitted police to apprehend the backpack’s owner.
