CSV's Claude WiselerPM's state of emergency discussion is "provocative" and "totally superfluous": Wiseler

The prime minister's suggestion to discuss a state of emergency in the Chamber were "provocative" and "totally superfluous", according to CSV MP Claude Wiseler, who was invited to RTL's morning show on Monday.

The Chamber is fully functional as is, and so there would be no need to talk about a corona-related state of emergency. The government had not been able to put forth a text in the previous two Chamber sessions anyway, Wiseler argues.

On Friday, in the health commission, the opposition parties unanimously criticised both the government’s overall strategy as well as the fact that it still did not present the MPs a clear and transparent step-by-step plan.

The CSV does believe, however, that further measures must be decided upon should the current numbers stabilise in the course of the next week, out of precaution for hospitals. There is also a significant organisational problem within education, and Wiseler calls for obligatory face masks, temperature checks and improved coordination between schools and childcare centres.

On the topic of teleworking, the CSV demands more precise rules and a step-by-step plan to show a sense of predictability to the population, or in other words: “If this happens, then that action will be taken,” says Wiseler. The CSV had already warned of a second wave during summer.
