The victim was a 59-year-old woman who lived in the town. She was hit by a car on the main street at around 10pm.
According to police, the driver was unable to avoid the collision, but not much information is known. The driver had struck the victim and crashing into the front of a house.
The vehicle has been seized by the authorities.
