Press freedom has been one of the most prominent issues for MPs recently. On 20 January, they unanimously passed a resolution expressing their support for more press freedom.
Ribeiro stated that she welcomes the Luxembourgish initiatives aimed at strengthening a free press. The OSCE representative pointed out that on an international level, journalists find themselves increasingly under pressure. Not only state institutions, but also companies are threatening the freedom of the press, Ribeiro explained. She added that “some actors” are also deliberately inciting the public’s mistrust of the media.
