Close to 20 public open-air pools exist in Luxembourg. Most of them have reported moderate guest numbers over the summer, especially in light of lower temperatures and continuous storm fronts.
Eric Kauth, pool attendant in Remich, commented: “If the weather is nice, we still manage to draw a lot of guests. There were one or two days this year when we were fully booked.” If the weather is bad on the other hand, only the regulars make their way to the pool.
At the public pool in Redange, visitor numbers also remained relatively low this year, even though Covid restrictions were eased so that more people can swim at the same time.
Wolfgang Maßmann, who is in charge of the pool, explained that no matter the number of guests, the building still has to operate on all levels to remain attractive for swimmers.
At the moment, guests are not allowed to stay at the pool for an entire day, a change which was introduced to give more people a chance of relaxing in Redange. The same mechanism was introduced in Remich as well.
