Around 750 students can now be welcomed onto the 15-acre site. As the century-old school in Ettelbruck was bursting at the seams and looking to move away from the image of being the ‘farmer school’, the new site is not only bigger, but offers a much larger range of studies.
In addition to the traditional agricultural training, the school also offers various training courses in horticulture and mechatronics, for example. Pupils also have the option to follow the general high school syllabus from 7ème to 5ème, and can then opt for a focus on natural sciences from 4ème to 1ère.
Particular attention was paid to the planning of the school’s outdoor areas in order to meet the educational needs of green professions. The surroundings include approximately 13 hectares of landscaped outdoor areas, such as gardens and greenhouses. The site also includes a tree-lined ecological parking lot for approximately 100 vehicles and spaces for 50 bicycles in order to encourage soft mobility.
Nonetheless, the Bettendorf site of the school will also remain in use, totalling an area of 25 hectares of land. Here students can continue practical work as well as the cultivation of open field vegetables, adds headmaster Tom Delles.
