MP Martine Hansen from the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) asked several parliamentary questions to the Minister of Health regarding the vaccination rate of health personnel in Luxembourg. One of her questions concerns the current figures for the vaccination rate of individuals working in hospitals and retirement homes.
Minister of Health Paulette Lenert and Minister for Family Affairs Corinne Cahen issued a joint reply to this question on Wednesday. In it, the ministers reveal that the vaccination rate of individuals working in hospitals and retirement homes is around 89.8% among residents and around 55.6% among cross-border workers.
However, Lenert and Cahen specify that it is necessary to “stress that the vaccination rate of cross-border workers is potentially higher, since some of them were vaccinated in their country of residence” and thus not included in the data available to the Luxembourgish authorities.
The ministers also state that “70.4% of resident healthcare workers have received their booster dose.”
Hansen had also asked if the government could indicate whether there were differences between different homes and management groups and how these could be quantified.
To this, the ministers replied that the various management companies and groups are governed by private law and are therefore “autonomous in the management of their activities”. They are obliged to ensure “compliance with the legal and regulatory provisions in the context of the CovidCheck regime at the workplace”.
Lenert and Cahen go on to say that the government is preparing “figures on the vaccination rate of employees by sector of activity”. However, the authorities will not break down the vaccination rate by individual institutions “for the reasons given above”.
Thus, the government will not provide figures for the vaccination rate in companies that are subject to private law.
