Instead of simply discussing sex and examining the topic from a medical point of view, the new edition of the national health plan will go much further. The plan has existed since 2013 and was extended into 2018. As of 1 January 2019, a further edition of the plan has been approved.

The plan was officially launched at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon in the Edupôle building in Walferdange. RTL had the opportunity to discuss it with Dr Bechara Georges Ziadé and graduate nurse Chantal Brochmann, who both work in the education medical department.

The previous national plan for emotional and sexual health was launched six years ago, but lacked both financial and personnel means to cover all aspects of sexual and emotional health. With the launch of the second plan, those involved are confident that they can go a step further. Dr Ziadé stressed that they had evaluated the plan and concluded that its basis was adequate, but it targeted children and young people too much. The committee then proposed to expand the next plan's reach.

In establishing this new edition of the plan, those involved were well aware that emotional and sexual health is not something that only affects young people. Last year, the National Centre for the Promotion of Emotional and Sexual Health (CESAS), was opened and has the purpose of acting as a facilitator for all the involved actors.

The further development of the national plan will move away from its educational purpose and will also promote the positive aspects of sexuality. The new plan will train teachers, who had already been involved previously, as wells as charitable organisations. Brochmann confirmed that the plan will offer basic training as well as continuous training.
