Mouveco explained that the chamber should be representing the country's citizens. Despite several positive initiatives recently, such as petitions, the Youth Parliament and public sessions, the movement believes that the chamber remains inaccessible to the citizens it ought to be representing.
Specifically, Mouveco believes that the Chamber of Deputies requires regular sessions with experts. The movement outlined that MPs depend on the knowledge of civil servants in different ministries and could benefit from expert advice.
A further point in Mouveco's demand is for reports to be better communicated to citizens, allowing citizens to be better informed. In that sense, the movement also called for parliamentary commissions to work more transparently and include civil groups in discussions rather than keep discussions behind closed doors.
Advocating forms of direct democracy, Mouveco also suggested that civil society should be be able to provide input towards draft bills rather than limit that type of input to the government or state council.
The involvement of civil organisations would allow citizens to be more politically involved.
Finally, Mouveco demanded that MPs take their mandates seriously and dedicate all their time to representing constituencies, rather than juggling their roles with additional roles as being a mayor, a municipal councillor, or other professional activites.
