A driver veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in a fatal collision with a motorcyclist.

A tragic accident occurred on Thursday evening near Schieren, at the northern end of the A7 motorway. Around 6.30pm, a car travelling north crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist, a 53-year-old man from France, sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them later that evening. The car's driver, who caused the accident, only sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Following the incident, both vehicles were seized on the orders of the public prosecutor, and an autopsy on the motorcyclist has been scheduled. The accident site remained closed for a considerable time, leading to significant traffic disruptions. A forensics team was dispatched to the scene.

On the same evening, shortly after 7pm, another motorcycle-related accident occurred on NR 12 between Eschdorf and Fond de Heiderscheid. According to the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) bulletin, two people were injured. The Ettelbruck emergency medical service and firefighters from Alebesch and Rambrouch responded to the incident.

Around 7pm, another car accident between Alzingen and Hassel resulted in one injury. Firefighters from Hesperange and an ambulance from Remich attended the scene.

Earlier, at approximately 5.45pm, several vehicles collided between Garnich and Windhof. This incident also resulted in one injury.
