The annual Moovijob job fair is set to take place on Friday, 20 March, at Luxexpo The Box in Kirchberg, offering jobseekers the chance to meet with nearly 145 companies and recruiters.

Organisers expect thousands of candidates to attend, amid a challenging economic climate that has seen unemployment rise sharply. According to the National Employment Agency (ADEM), more than 21,000 people are currently registered as jobseekers in Luxembourg.

The fair, a key event in the country’s recruitment calendar, provides an opportunity for attendees to present their CV and cover letter directly to employers. However, those planning to attend are advised to come prepared. Our colleagues from RTL Infos has gathered practical advice to help candidates make the most of the day.

Preparation key to success

Given the expected high turnout, efficiency will be essential. “Make sure to prepare your CV and cover letter in advance”, advises Maëlle Pinto from Moovijob, “And most importantly, consult the floor plan and the search tool to identify which recruiters will be there, in which fields they have positions, and where they will be located.”

Once at the fair, candidates will face two challenges: limited time to meet all recruiters, and short interview slots. As such, quality should take precedence over quantity. Pinto recommends tailoring application materials to specific roles. “Be efficient and motivated, show that you’re prepared, that you’ve looked at the job offer and that you want to apply specifically for it”, she adds.

Language considerations

With three official languages, alongside English and Portuguese, multilingualism remains a significant asset in Luxembourg. Here too, customisation is key. “Does the company you’re targeting have a particular culture?” Pinto asks, “Is it known for being more German-speaking? More French-speaking? If you’re aiming for the finance sector, you know that English will be important.”

Since each company has its own working language, candidates are encouraged to research in advance. Recruiters are likely to respond positively to those who can demonstrate relevant language skills.

Key sectors recruiting

As of 31 January 2026, ADEM reported 21,255 registered resident jobseekers, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 6.3%. Just under 6,000 positions are currently listed as available by recruiters, while the Moovijob portal features over 4,850 vacancies.

The fair will cover a wide range of sectors, with some areas particularly well-represented. The “Finance” and “Industry / Construction / Transport” hubs will be the largest, reflecting the continued importance of these fields despite recent challenges in the construction sector. The “Health / Care / Social” hub has also expanded, responding to rising demand that recruitment specialists note has been growing consistently year on year.
