CCSSLuxembourg's social security contributions exceed €7 billion in 2022

The Joint Social Security Centre (CCSS) has released its latest annual report, offering an overview of its activities throughout 2022.

The report provides a multi-year perspective to underscore the continuity in CCSS’s operations. One notable highlight is the substantial increase in social security contributions in 2022, surpassing the figures from the previous year.

Specifically, contributions have risen from €6.8 billion in 2021 to €7.3 billion in 2022. This uptick can be attributed primarily to a significant increase in the number of contributors, including employees (+3.31%), self-employed individuals (+2.47%), and voluntary insured members (+14.75%).

(Almost) all figures are up

In 2022, the CCSS processed a total of 560,400 entry and exit declarations, marking an increase from the 515,055 recorded in 2021. Additionally, the CCSS handled the affiliation of 486,503 employees (compared to 470,919 in 2021), 28,748 self-employed individuals (up from 28,056 in 2021), and 22,720 voluntary insured members (compared to 19,799 in 2021). The CCSS also issued 10,161 summonses (compared to 7,147 in 2021) and conducted 283 checks (up from 202 in 2021).

In a bid to improve user services, the CCSS introduced a new switchboard to manage 199,951 incoming calls in 2022, a slight decrease from the 209,372 calls handled in 2021.

This commitment to service improvement is further underscored by the establishment of a Quality Department in November 2022. Claude Seywert, Chairman of the CCSS, highlighted the organisation’s dedication to service reliability, streamlined procedures, digitalisation, and the provision of high-quality services as central priorities.
