Could a new way of working help alleviate stress during commutes and solve the traffic problem? On Wednesday, a 7-storey 6,400 square metre office space called Spaces Place de la Gare was inaugurated, close to the central station in Luxembourg City.
The new space offers a number of advantages, from flexibility for large businesses, to office space for start-ups. For employees, the accessibility and close proximity to public transport could ease their commutes and discourage motorists from adding to the number of cars clogging up the city's roads.
William Willems, general manager of the Spaces IWG group for Belgium and Luxembourg, said the new space came in response to a growing demand in the Grand Duchy. 30% of the 159 private modular rooms had already been reserved. In addition, there are also 77 coworking possibilities, six meeting rooms, a café-restaurant accessible to non-users of the premises, a gym and showers as well as parking spaces. The project managers wanted to offer a new style of work-life balance.
Above all, it is the younger generations who applaud this change in mentality, for employees who no longer wish to waste precious hours stuck in traffic jams. More and more companies are displaying interest in this type of work, in the best interests of employers and employees alike.
The expansion of coworking spaces will continue, with eight more structures planning to open in the Grand Duchy by 2022, both in the city centre and outside. The goal is to provide a workplace accessible to cross-border workers in 15 minutes, even if it is not the company's headquarters. Further information can be found at www.spacesworks.com.
