Luxembourg may have returned to Eurovision, but its place in next year’s contest in Bulgaria is not yet guaranteed. The decision, which lies with the government, is expected over the next few weeks.
Dave Gloesener, head of the Luxembourg delegation, told RTL on Saturday it had been agreed that further participation was not dependent on qualification for the final. Organisers will meet with the government in the coming weeks to review Luxembourg's participation so far and discuss the case for continued involvement in the contest.
Theoretically, the government agreed to finance Luxembourg's participation until 2026. Deputy PM Xavier Bettel attended Saturday's final in Vienna, according to social media.
After a long pause between Luxembourg's entry in 1993 with "Modern Times", the Grand Duchy finally returned for the last three years. Tali's "Fighter" and Laura Thorn's "La poupée monte le son" both made it to the final in 2024 and 2025, reaching 13th and 22nd place respectively.
