
As holiday season approaches, many people are planning trips and looking to minimise their travel expenses. Here’s a current overview of fuel prices in Luxembourg and its border regions to help you save on fuel costs.
As of Tuesday, 9 July, diesel in Luxembourg is priced at €1.525 per litre, which is significantly lower than the average price in the surrounding border areas.
In the French department of Moselle, there is a price difference of at least €0.15 per litre compared to Luxembourg. However, this requires travelling further as the cheapest stations are in Moselle-Est (Sarrebourg) and Moselle-Sud (Lorquin, Morhange). Near Thionville and Metz, prices start at €1.674 per litre at Leclerc in Rombas, which is €0.15 more per litre than in Luxembourg. Other prices include €1.686 at Carrefour in Vitry-sur-Orne and €1.696 at Intermarché in Aumetz. Additionally, diesel costs less than €1.70 in Marly and Fameck (Leclerc), and in Clouange and Boulay (Super U / Station U), as well as in Hauconcourt and Amnéville (Leclerc).
In Belgium‘s Province du Luxembourg, diesel reaches up to €1.839 per litre. Near Trier in Germany, it is around €1.729 per litre.
For petrol-powered vehicles, Luxembourg also offers the best value with SP95 priced at €1.60 per litre.
In comparison, prices in France are higher by €0.14 per litre. For example, unleaded petrol costs €1.739 in Clouange (Super U) and €1.749 in Hauconcourt (Leclerc). Prices then increase slightly to €1.752 in Fameck (Leclerc) and €1.758 in Thionville and Marly (Leclerc) and Guénange (Intermarché). Near Metz, the Esso station in Marly prices petrol at €1.758, while the wider Metz metropolitan area sees prices starting from €1.80 per litre.
In Belgium, petrol prices are similar, with a maximum of €1.778 in the Arlon region. In Trier, petrol will cost you at least €1.849 per litre.
