Luxembourg and Denmark have committed to continuing their cooperation in the field of wind energy.
During a recent visit to Copenhagen, Minister of Energy Lex Delles met with his Danish counterpart to sign a memorandum of understanding. This agreement ensures Luxembourg’s participation in several projects until 2030, including a large offshore wind farm in Denmark.
The memorandum aims to enhance statistical transfers to help achieve national renewable energy goals by 2030. It also includes a commitment to explore joint long-term projects, supported by the EU’s financial facilitation for renewable energy initiatives. Additionally, the production of electricity and hydrogen is to be supported through the development of offshore energy infrastructure.
Projects designed around interconnected offshore infrastructure are expected to facilitate energy transport to European coasts and improve distribution across the continent.
Minister Delles emphasised that wind energy is “an important asset for the European Union in achieving its ambitious climate targets.” He noted that, despite being a landlocked country, Luxembourg is a pioneer in the EU, providing financial support for the deployment of “competitive renewable energy” sources.
