Lawyer André Lutgen was found not guilty of having intimidated investigating magistrate Felipe Rodriguez, the court announced on Thursday morning.

However, although Lutgen was acquitted of intimidation charges, he was found guilty of the act of “outrage à magistrat”, or insulting a judge.

As a result, he was ordered to pay a fine of €2,000 and was made to pay a symbolic sum of one euro to Felipe Rodriguez.

Lutgen announced his intention to appeal the court ruling.
