
The same source said that affected employees will have to leave Luxembourg for Slovakia or Spain by the beginning of 2020. There, they will have to adjust to different salaries. This will affect people who arrived within the last 2 or 3 years. Internal solutions will be offered, but the affected persons are yet to receive full support.
In answer to this, Amazon has confirmed that changes are to be made in the affected department, but state that "only" 50 people would be affected - not 100, as suggested by our source. Affected employees will have about nine months, until summer 2020, to decide whether to continue working in Luxembourg or move with the role to Bratislava or Barcelona.
The American company, who still advertise some 500 open roles in the Grand Duchy, also emphasised that this was in no way a signal to Luxembourg.
Amazon recently moved its offices to Kirchberg, and now employs some 2,200 people in the country.
