At an event in RTL City in Kirchberg, RTL Today’s very own Lisa Burke was on site to talk to some of the country’s most important figures about the reasons for the rebrand and why RTL means so much to Luxembourg.
First off, she had Elmar Heggen, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO at RTL Group, in front of her microphone. He spoke about the importance of RTL being a unified brand across all the countries it operates in.
Next, she talked to Thomas Rabe, the CEO of RTL Group and CEO and Chairman of the Bertelsmann Management SE Executive Board. In his interview, he discussed the challenges of an ever-changing media landscape.
Michel Reckinger, the president of UEL, the Union of Luxembourgish Enterprises, is not directly linked to the RTL brand. Nevertheless, he gave Lisa his personal testimony on why RTL is so important to Luxembourgers.
Lisa then had a chat with the management of Broadcasting Centre Europe (BCE). Sven Weisen, director of technical solutions, spoke about the importance of having a diverse programme and how RTL Today is a great opportunity for Luxembourg.
Martin Boronski, the Chief Technology Officer of BCE, told Lisa about how his company is supporting the RTL brand in digitalisation.
As the night went on, Lisa spoke to some of the Luxembourgish journalists and presenters who make RTL what it is. They described why they love RTL and discussed the importance of multilingual journalism in the country.
And finally, there was even time for a quick chat with Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, who said he enjoyed the event but was looking forward to getting back home. And after a long night of celebrating RTL’s past and future, so were we!
