61 years ago, on 7 March 1965, Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte made Esch-sur-Alzette the first stop of their own Joyous Entry. On Friday, Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie will follow in their footsteps, marking the first step of their tour of the country following the throne accession in October 2025.

Alongside the official reception, residents can look forward to entertainment, cultural performances, and opportunities to meet the Grand Ducal couple in Esch-sur-Alzette's Belval district and on Place Brill.

Practical information

The event will bring traffic restrictions to parts of Esch-sur-Alzette. Several streets in Belval and the city centre will be partially closed or have limited access throughout the day. The municipality is encouraging visitors to use public transport or travel on foot where possible. The P+R Belval Gare and other car parks outside the centre are available as alternatives.

Public transport services may also be subject to adjustments depending on how the day develops.
