As part of the ILRES 'Sunday Poll', 1,829 eligible voters were asked not only about their political preferences, but also about seven additional questions. One of them touched on the topic of right-wing populism.
In Germany, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has recently notched up major electoral successes, taking first place in the state elections in both Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
In France, Marine Le Pen and her Rassemblement National (RN) are leading the polls for the 2027 presidential election.
The 'Sunday Poll' reveals that 58% of voters believe the answer to be "yes". It is also telling that people aged 25-34 and 45-54 are the most likely to foresee such a shift, with 65% of them holding that view.
People over the age of 65 are the least concerned, with only 44% believing that Luxembourg will experience a shift to the right.
Among Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR) core voters, a clear majority (81%) share this view, whereas "only" 53% of DP voters foresee such a development.
Six further questions were put to voters as part of the 'Sunday Poll'. The results will be released on Wednesday at 5pm.
