LSAP MP Simone Asselborn-Bintz asked Minister of Education Claude Meisch to explain the lack of certified educators. This has often been in the news lately in the context of a new career for an educator certificate.

Claude Meisch stressed that 801 positions for certified educators were advertised in 2019, with only 139 people in training at the LTPES in the same year. The huge discrepancy between those two numbers shows there is a problem.

The number of people in training is clearly insufficient. 250 additional educators alone are needed for the Services d’éducation et d'acceuil, Crèches and Maisons relais. 340 people had finished their secondary education with a diploma in social sciences in 2019, allowing them to go on to certify as an educator under the new pilot project. So in light of these numbers, the project should at least be given a chance.
