On Thursday, Minister of the Economy Franz Fayot from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) took to twitter to accuse Luc Frieden of blurring the lines between his political ambitions and his responsibilities as president of the Chamber of Commerce in an “unacceptable” way.
Fayot stated that when he recently demanded a value-based foreign trade policy, Frieden questioned whether he was speaking as Minister of the Economy or as a representative of the LSAP. “In any case, now I know in which role the president of the Chamber of Commerce was speaking when he criticised me and called for a purely opportunistic trade policy,” Fayot said. Needless to say, the election campaign is on.
The CSV’s national council will meet on Wednesday to decide who will become the opposition party’s lead candidate.
