Drunk drivers

Several drivers decided to get behind the wheel after enjoying one too many on Friday night.

Shortly before 1am, a taxi driver called police after witnessing how a drunk client, whom he had driven to Lorentzweiler train station, got into his car and drove home. Police paid him a visit and took away his driver's license.

Another driver caught a police patrol's attention when he was zigzagging through Esch. He was pulled over before he could drive onto the motorway. He tested positive for alcohol and the officers lodged a formal complaint.

Around 8am, another driver tried to hide from police officers near the Bouillon parking lot in Luxembourg City. After seeing the police car, the driver drove back to the parking lot and turned off the engine.

When the patrol turned around, the suspect turned the engine back on and tried to exit the parking lot - before reversing back into the parking lot when he saw that he police car was still close by.

The breathalyzer test came back positive and he had to hand over his license.

A hit-and-run incident

The last incident took place on rue Boltgen in Esch around 9.30pm. A driver reversed his car and crashed into the door of another car. Instead of stopping his vehicle, he decided simply to take off.

The owner of the damaged vehicle followed him and a witness alerted police.

Officers found the culprit in his home. He denied the charges but his car was clearly damaged.

His blood alcohol levels also exceeded the legal maximum. His license was also revoked.
