Around 10pm on Wednesday, police received reports of a car on fire on Rue d'Éparnay in Luxembourg City. The fire originated from the front-right tyre of a parked vehicle. Although the emergency services were swift to intervene, the front of the car was completely destroyed by the flames. The fire also damaged the vehicle parked in front.

No injuries were reported.

While patrolling the area, officers encountered a man who had already drawn police attention in connection with another car fire on the same road the previous day. They searched the man and found him in possession of a box of matches. Further investigation found that he had ignited the trim around the vehicle's front tyre.

He was subsequently arrested and brought before an investigating judge.
