Overnight from Saturday to Sunday, police once again intervened in several cases involving suspected drink-driving.

In Luxembourg City, a driver received a provisional ban after erratic driving nearly caused an accident.

Around 3.30am in Bascharage, officers confiscated a driving licence after a vehicle was seen speeding from the Biff roundabout into the town centre. The driver later tested positive for elevated levels of alcohol.

In Foetz, police filed a report for excessive alcohol after a man was caught speeding in a car park. He was uncooperative and taken into custody due to his level of intoxication.

In the past week alone, six people have lost their lives on roads in and around Luxembourg – at least one fatal accident was alcohol related.
