RTL received the sad news on Friday that Armand A Wagner, a prominent antiques dealer and certified expert at the Supreme Court, has died. Wagner appeared as an expert in the first season of RTL’s ‘derwäert’ series, where he became known to a wider audience.
A specialist in Luxembourgish antiques and modern history, Wagner brought more than 45 years of experience to his field. Over the course of his career, he at times managed three antiques shops simultaneously and was known for his keen eye and passion for collecting.
Among his more memorable acquisitions were the thick toe of the Gëlle Fra monument, destroyed by the Nazis in 1940, purchased at auction, and, on another occasion, Charlie Chaplin’s bedroom. Wagner was also reported to have owned a personal library of more than 7,000 books on art and antiques.
Wagner passed away after a prolonged illness. We extend our sincerest condolences to his family.
