A large-scale traffic safety operation in Pétange and Mersch on Monday evening resulted in dozens of warnings and fines for vehicle defects, missing documents, and driving violations.

During a coordinated traffic safety operation on Monday evening, police and customs officers in Pétange identified numerous vehicle defects and regulatory violations.

The stop was part of the “Gutt gesinn” safety campaign and took place between 7pm and 9pm on the N31, just before the PED roundabout.

During the check, authorities issued 29 warnings for faulty vehicle lighting. Twenty-six motorists did not have the necessary documents in their possession, including seven expired tax vignettes. Two drivers were cited for number plate violations, and one car was found to have unregistered modifications.

One vehicle was fined €145 and received two penalty points for a tyre defect. Another driver using a mobile phone was fined €250 with four penalty points, and one motorist was fined €49 for speeding.

A parallel operation conducted in Mersch during the same hours resulted in 44 warnings. Of these, 29 were for lighting defects, seven for documentation issues, two for seat belt violations, and one for tyre problems. Two warnings were issued for number plate irregularities. One driver was found to be operating a vehicle without a licence, and another was driving under the influence of drugs.
