RTL consulted a number of dossiers from November on the topic. On average, trains suffered from 4 minute delays, while the buses were delayed by two minutes. 154 of the 480 buses which travel from the city's central train station to the secondary schools were cancelled due to overrunning delays.

The worsening mobility situation in the capital is not just affecting commuters. Students frequently arrive late to school due to bus and train delays.

Secondary schools have drawn attention to these delays before, but there has been no noticeable improvement. Schools based in Limpertsberg could be helped if the tram replaced the school buses hailing from the Gare Centrale.

Education Minister Claude Meisch said in an interview that the delays disrupted the operation of the schools. For this reason, the ministry is trying to offer a more varied school offer in all regions of the country. Authorities are also investigating the possibility of implementing staggered timetables in schools.

Meisch acknowledged that amending timetables would influence students' leisure activities if lessons were extended in the afternoon. He said he felt decentralising educational establishments would alleviate the situation in the long run, expressing his pride at the secondary schools which have opened in Clervaux and Mondorf. Junglinster secondary school is fully subscribed, something Meisch referred to as a success, preventing students from crossing the whole country to attend school in the capital, where the majority of lycées are based.
