
On Wednesday evening, police noticed a motorist driving erratically in Grevenmacher. He was found to be well over the legal alcohol limit. Officers confiscated the man's licence and issued a fine.
Shortly before midnight, another driver was caught speeding on Côte d'Eich in Luxembourg City. The alcohol test was positive, but not high enough to warrant confiscating the driver's licence.
At around 7.35pm a cyclist was injured in an accident in Mamer. A motorist failed to spot the cyclist on the Route d'Arlon as she was turning off to the motorway, and struck the man with her vehicle. The cyclist was treated at the scene and later taken to hospital, while the driver was treated for shock. Neither she nor her passenger were injured, according to the police report.
In Ettelbruck a man had his licence confiscated after an accident on the CR305 at 8.40pm. He lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a construction site. Officers established that the man had consumed too much alcohol before getting behind the wheel. No injuries were reported, but the man received a fine and a provisional driving ban as a result.
Finally, police reported a shoplifter at a shopping centre in Windhof. Security guards caught the thief in the act as he attempted to get away with €366 worth of merchandise. The man was arrested and brought before an investigating magistrate.
