European ParliamentCSV's Martine Kemp to succeed MEP Christophe Hansen

RTL Today
Christophe Hansen is set to transition from his role as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) to a Member of Parliament (MP) in Luxembourg's Chamber of Deputies, effective from 23 October.

This change follows the outcome of the legislative elections held on 8 October, where Hansen came second on the list of the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) in the Northern constituency, securing his place in the national parliament. As a result, his European mandate will be handed over to Martine Kemp.

In the 2019 European elections, Hansen received the most votes for the CSV, ahead of Isabel Wiseler-Lima, who came second, with Kemp placing third. Hansen will take the oath of office in the Chamber of Deputies on 24 October. He will therefore resign as an MEP on 23 October. Kemp will assume her new position as an MEP on 24 October.

Martine Kemp is 29 years old and originally from Dudelange. She currently works for the municipality of Luxembourg City.

The CSV currently has two MEPs. The next European elections will take place on 9 June 2024. Voters will then send six new representatives for Luxembourg to the European Parliament.
