On Wednesday at 6pm, the CSV National Council convened its national committee, district committees, MPs, and representatives of affiliated organisations to take an important decision. Meeting at the Centre Barblé in Strassen, the Council approved the proposed ministerial reshuffle following the resignation of Labour Minister Georges Mischo. Around 100 members voted unanimously in favour of nominating Marc Spautz as the new Minister of Labour and Martine Hansen as Minister for Sports.

With Marc Spautz set to join the government, he will also have to step down as leader of the CSV’s parliamentary group. The group therefore met separately on Wednesday and, according to a press release. elected Laurent Zeimet, MP and deputy mayor of Bettembourg, as its new leader by a large majority, though the vote was not unanimous. Zeimet has been a CSV member of parliament since October 2023, having previously served between 2014 and 2018 before joining the Council of State from 2022 to 2023.

On Thursday morning, Georges Mischo will have an audience with the Grand Duke, after which Marc Spautz and Martine Hansen will formally take over the responsibilities left vacant by the outgoing minister.
