On 26 September, the High Council for Infectious Diseases (CSMI) published its latest advice on coronavirus vaccination schedules, recommending that people who are considered to be immunocompromised or medically vulnerable should receive an additional jab this autumn. The recommendation was also circulated among Luxembourg’s GPs, according to the Ministry of Health.

Current stock and future deliveries

In response to RTL’s request for information, the Ministry of Health confirmed Luxembourg currently has 26,880 doses of the Pfizer (XBB1.5.) vaccine. 17,280 of these are allocated to adults, 4,800 to children, and 4,800 to infants aged over 6 months and young children up to the age of 4.

Further deliveries are planned to arrive over the coming weeks, the Ministry added.

Demand is low

In September, just 19 GPs registered demands for the vaccine, representing a total of 486 doses. In the first week of October, 93 doctors submitted demands, corresponding to 3,138 doses of the vaccine.
