Backlash against high-riseControversial high-rise "Portal Eent" project dropped amid criticism

RTL Today
In a press release, the company Geoplan II confirmed that plans for the 60-metre tower would be dropped.

The reason for company dropping the project is the large-scale criticism from many Esch-sur-Alzette residents, who fiercely resisted the proposal. A citizens' initiative had even formed against the planned high-rise building on the site of the former Losch garage.

The real estate business explained it would no longer be pursuing the project, albeit "with heavy hearts." The business claimed it was still convinced the project would be a great success for many diverse reasons, but the business did not want to continue the project given the divisions it has created amongst residents.

Geoplan II did stress that it would continue to work with enthusiasm on the alternative project, as it believes there are a number of positive aspects that will please residents.
