The construction sector and related areas will be on collective leave starting the evening of 25 July until 25 August. The Inspectorate of Labour and Mines has reissued the dates of the collective leave as a reminder.

As every year, the businesses working in the construction and civil engineering sectors have a month of leave, alongside sanitary, heating, and air-conditioning installation workers.

The construction and civil engineering sectors will finish work on Thursday 25 July and return to work on Monday 19 August. However, some construction sites may be exempt from collective leave, namely works in schools, factories whilst production has been suspended, and urgent works.

The sanitary, heating, and air-conditioning installation sector has slightly different dates, as confirmed by the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines. Here, collective leave starts on Monday 5 August until Sunday 25 August.

Again, some work may be exempt from collective leave, such as repair and maintenance work. Such exemptions are only possible if personnel delegations and employees approve it.

The ITM will continue to ensure that companies abide by collective leave and will hold inspections alongside the customs and excise agency and the police.

Tramworks continue despite leave

The relevant derogation commission treated 101 requests for exemption concerning 196 construction sites, 47 of those in schools, 42 in factories, and 107 deemed urgent.

The tram construction site is considered to hold national priority and has been authorised to continue throughout August. Firms that have been approved for exemption have received authorisations that should be displayed visibly on the 129 construction sites. 16 requests were refused and the final 51 requests concerned construction sites that are not bound by collective leave.
