The Minister for Ecology and Regional Planning, Claude Turmes, and the local MP, Stéphanie Empain, will lead the list of the Greens for the legislative elections this autumn in the Oesling region. All nine candidates were presented at a press conference in Lipperscheid on Thursday morning.

Svenja Birchen, municipal councillor in Ettelbruck, and Tanja Duprez of Troisvierges, appear on the list, as they did in 2018.

The Green Party is relying heavily on its local elected officials in the North: Thierry Lagoda, mayor of Beckerich, also appears on the list, alongside the mayor of the merged municipality of Grosbous-Wahl, Christiane Thommes-Bach; Georges Biever, municipal councillor in Goesdorf; and municipal councillors Jeannot Sanavia (Esch-sur-Sûre) and Lex Schwind (Mertzig).

However, former MP Gérard Anzia, who came third for the Greens in 2018, will not stand on the 2023 election list, after taking a step back from politics. He also chose not to stand in Useldange’s municipal elections.

The average age of candidates is 42 years old.
