
According to police, a serious accident took place on the Route d'Arlon in Oberfeulen on Monday, in the direction of Mertzig. An electric bicycle and an electric scooter had been travelling in the same direction when the e-scooter pulled up to the left of the cyclist at the junction with Rue de Merscheid.
As the e-scooter rider also tried to turn left, the cyclist came off his bike and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
Both the e-bike and the e-scooter were secured on the orders of the public prosecutor. The exact circumstances of the accident are still being investigated.
Police in their report also warn that e-scooters that have been technically modified carry serious risks, particularly where the vehicles can travel much faster than legally permitted.
Officers therefore remind riders to use only e-scooters that comply with the law.
In a separate incident, police report having stopped a motorist riding a motorcycle without a valid driving licence.
A patrol encountered the man with his motorcycle on the street Bei der Kazebach in Mondercange. During the check, the man was discovered to be without licence and insurance, and that the motorcycle was not registered either.
That vehicle was also seized on the orders of the public prosecutor.
