In the closing stretch of Thursday's rush-hour traffic, the automobile club ACL reported that a bus had caught fire at Fridhaff, near Diekirch. The Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) also confirmed that the fire had broken out at around 5.25pm.

No further details have been released, other than that firefighters from Angelsberg and the Nordstad had been called to the scene to put out the blaze.

An ambulance was also on hand, though fortunately no one was injured.

RTL received a photograph of a large cloud of smoke rising over Diekirch, alongside information that the source of the fire can be traced back to a bus depot in Fridhaff.
