Employees at Delphi were informed of the firm’s global restructuring efforts at the end of last year, news of significant job losses breaking for the first time in November.

LINK: Delphi signs redundancy plan with OGBLThe trade union now welcomes the proposal of BorgWarner to continue operating in the Grand Duchy, but officials still have reservations over the exact location, insisting that a guarantee for the Bascharage site should be given. OGBL thus wants to meet with Minister of the Economy Franz Fayot (LSAP) so that they can provide clarity to the concerned employees.

In a press release, the union emphasises that during the last 10 years, four redundancy programmes had been initiated for the Bascharage firm, with more than half of its jobs being cut since 2008. The automotive parts maker has been located in Luxembourg’s south since 1971.
