A boat has been making its rounds on the Weiswampach lake for a week to remove algae from the water. Since it is not able to cover all of the lake’s bottom, another boat will be deployed next week to make sure the final plants are removed.
People can swim in the Weiswampach lake from May until September each year. The Water Management Authority has noted that the water quality is “excellent”, but that people may still be harmed by excessive amounts of algae.
Weiswampach Mayor Henri Rinnen hopes that if everything works according to plan and the algae are removed properly, the lake should be free for at least five years.
