Luxembourg’s municipalities did not collect sufficient signatures from their citizens to achieve the desired referendum. Now, the ADR party suggests this is the fault of municipal councils for not making enough effort, as well as not permitting online or postal signatures.
A statement published by the party on Wednesday said that Luxembourgers living or studying abroad had been excluded from the petition, and it had not been sufficiently promoted by the government or the media. In fact, the party suggests that the media reported negatively on the referendum, or was distracted by other topics such as Covid, which dominates current events.
The ADR will continue to push for a referendum, the party concluded in their press release (linked below).
